I mainly use a 'stepover' vault, speed, cat pass and theif vault.

You mean like a side vault except you put your foot on?

Dashes can be useful. Its up to you. If you train it heaps, you will get good at it and it wil be effecient for you. Can be useful to learn but, like someone said "for butt insurance". I rarely use it.

What you guys have been discussing has been a load of nonesense. There is a very very very simple concept behind this that only one person here has picked up on.

QUOTE (SporadiC)
also: there are no movements which are "not parkour", some movements just require situations that hardly exist at all, and so training them has no use.

I wouldn't say that there is no movements at all, but you definitely grasp the concept that is brought up here. If it is what YOU can do more efficiently at that moment in time, then yes, it is Parkour. To delve into something that many many people neglect as well... simply running around something might even be more efficient.... all these things you guys have been saying are just... farfetched?

This is such a circumstantial discussion that it really useless to be brought up. Whenever a discussion like this comes forward I always think to myself "here we go again", as majority of those involved start stating all these ridiculous 'facts'. The answer here is very simple. The moment you, YOURSELF, are performing a move that is most efficient for that situation.... that's Parkour. There are just some things you cannot rule out as there is really no actual answer to them.

I know a lot of people aren't keen on the dash, and certainly a lot of people claimed it's not parkour when I put out my Dash tutorial. But the answer to your question is actually fairly straight forward. I dash better than I kong - so who believes that I should kong instead of dash to perform parkour correctly?

Efficiency is relative, and as such, parkour is relative. What's efficient to you might not be efficient to me. smile.gif

I understand what people mean now when they say that dash vaults CAN be efficient. Personally I have never found a situation where a dash vault would be the most effective movement for ME. However I'm sure it is efficient for other people sometimes and am sorry if I offended anyone.

The only good part of a kash vault is the momentum that you gain at the end of the vault.

If you ask me I believe that a Dash Vault can be used for giving yourself more momentum, however, it is rarely used because it's not REALLY necessary, but it still can be useful for giving yourself more speed by pushing off with your hands. I guess it's also just a safety precaution?

i have used dash vaults effectively, and i've seen dash vaults used effectively... the good thing about dashes is you land in a comfortable ready position. if there is another obstacle close to the one you just dashed you're already to clear it. it's harder to do something like that coming out of a kong. coming out of a kong you have more explosive power, where dashes you have an easy recovery and are ready for another obstacle. in the end though, it's really about what works for you...

EVERY part of a run while one is practicing parkour should be usefull (I mean EVERY part). Right down to the slightest hand placement even just jogging can have a tremendous effect on the whole run.

take this into account with the dash vault. Sure you can just jump over the obstacle and land right on the other side OR you can make it a dash vault and propell yourself 3 or 4 feet (at least) forward before you land. this not only covers more ground in less time, but it also sets you up better to roll out of it.
