I had an account here on parkour.net but i've been inactive for a while, so for some reason i had to register again.

Thing is, i'm visiting Paris next month (from 19th to 25th June) and i wanted to visit places like Lisses, and at the same time i would appreciate meeting up with traceurs who could show me around. If there happens to be an organised jam at that time, i really would like to join too.

I havn't trained in a while and i could really use some tips too. Hopefully this trip to the roots of Le Parkour will reignite my passion and spur me to carry on and move up to greater heights.

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Gaffar

p.s. I don't speak French, and i doubt the precision of Babelfish, so if someone could translate this for me to post in the French forums, i would really appreciate that as well

Trip to Amsterdam

Hi, I'm an American traceur. I'm from West Haven, Connecticut, USA . I am taking a trip that is starting in Amsterdam and going around Europe in late May. The only time I will have to do parkour is during the day on May 24th. I don't know Amsterdam whatsoever so I was wondering if anyone either from or that has gone to Amsterdam in the past can give me a lead on an area or some places that are ideal for parkour. My brother and I have been training for a year and a half, but an experience of practicing parkour in Europe I feel could be great for our continued progression. If anyone know of locations or can help us in anyway it'd be much appreciated Thanks.
-Matt-

Trip to Italy

Ciao everyone !

First off, i've deliberately decided to post this message in the english-speaking section of parkour.net in the hope that more people will read it. However, if a mod decides that it doesn't belong here, please feel free to move it into the corresponding section.

As it is said in the title of this post, Blane and I along with a third person (it's not very clear yet who it will be) are preparing a Parkour trip around Italy in my little old car. Our aim is to meet and train in different places/cities of Italy with all the people who will be interested in joining us. We want to film everything and make a little video out of it.

The trip will most likely take place in June, and the cities we are quite sure to visit are Milano, Firenze and Roma. We might also be passing through Lyon (France) on the way.
We will of course visit other places but so far, our route is not very clear. If you live in a town/city that i have not mentioned which you feel is a good place for Parkour and that you would like to train with us, please tell me, and we'll organize our route depending on the requests we get.

If anyone can be kind enough to translate this message in italian and post it on the italian boards, it would be very appreciated, as my italian is far from good.

Grazie mille e a la prossima !

Thomas

Ciao a tutti!

Vaulting

If you notice people running obstacle courses, you'll never see them use saut du chat (a.k.a. "through vault") or its derivatives. You'll never see them pass their legs between their arms when vaulting, as this wastes a lot of energy for no reason at all (the center of gravity has to be lifted higher, which wastes more energy). Many traceurs use saut-du-chat-like movement in every opportunity, even when they do a passe muraille, for crying out loud!

But the thing is, you don't even have to vault every obstacle you see. Most of them can be stepped on or simply jumped over. Again, look at sports for the answer. You don't see people vaulting the obstacles in track, they simply jump over them. It's much more efficient, plus you don't have to rely on the stability of the obstacle.

[hors sujet] Flood Party !

(sorry to non-french speakers : this topic is only in french)

Shoulder Pain...Lower back pain

Hey guys,

For 5 months now, I have been feeling lower back pain and shoulder pain.

Lower back pain: Generally, it feels like great stiffness and sometimes some pinching points add to it. When I do my stretching before my training, at some point I feel my back cracking (like when you crack your fingers) and from then, my pain is releived until the end of my training. but then, the next day, it hurts again. Am I experiencing normal back pain? And does anyone know how to get rid of it? (I know it is the most controversial injury, but has anyone ever experienced it and healed from it? How?)

Shoulder Pain: I have been feeling it for about 4 months now. I started feeling it just a little bit at the end of every training 4 months ago, but in the last month, it kept getting worse and worse. Now, when I lift up my shoulder more than 100 degrees (straight up would be 180 degrees) I just cannot go any higher because it hurts too much. The pain is not the same kind of pain as stretching a muscle too far. It is just a very acute pain that keeps me from going any higher, no matter how much will I put into going higher. If you look at the picture I attached to my post, the pain feels right between the Clavicle and the Acromion. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? and how to fix it? If the only way to fix it is to stop training and to wait for it to heal by itself, can you please give me some advice on how to keep training the rest of my body (because I do not wanna lose the strenght and endurance I built up so carefully)?

People alway say to go to the doctor if the pain continues or worsens, but I do not want to go to the doctor, because all the doctor in my area are incompetent (There is a lack of workers so the standards are lowered a lot). What are my options?

If you guys don't get what my answers are, please say so

Thanks for your help
Max
